MetroStar Systems Designs New FCC Website to Meet Administration Priorities

Integration of New Media Tools to Increase Transparency and Public Participation

RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - MetroStar Systems, a leader in full-service information technology (IT) and strategies for new media and enterprise collaboration, today announced it successfully designed the new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. The website, which is being launched today, focuses on interacting with the public and furthering Open Government initiatives. MetroStar Systems' New Media team worked in conjunction with the FCC to place the website content and applications in the cloud, allowing for increased development speed, decreased operational costs and enhanced computing resources. The new website is powered by Drupal, an open source content management system, and integrates social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to increase citizen participation.

"The FCC is committed to communicating and interacting with the public in meaningful ways," said Ali Reza Manouchehri, CEO and Co-founder of MetroStar Systems. "This new digital platform will allow the FCC to create stronger connections with its visitors. We applaud the FCC for their role in advancing Open Government and transparency. The FCC's collective vision harnesses the digital landscape, increasing connections and citizen engagement."

As part of this project, MetroStar Systems researched, planned, and executed the new technical and information architecture, providing dramatically easier navigation functionality and access to FCC content and data. The website's Drupal-based modules will also be available for use by other government agencies and open source developers, creating a best practice for government. Moving the website to a cloud-based environment with an open source content management system increases citizen usability and access to content and proceedings.

"I am proud of MetroStar Systems and our partners working hand-in-hand with the FCC to advance the Administration's key priorities in the areas of cloud computing, open source, transparency and citizen engagement," said Manouchehri. "We have extensive experience supporting important new media initiatives within both the government and commercial markets. We are humbled to have been selected for this important work and appreciate the opportunity to serve the FCC."
