MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge Presents an Online-to-Offline Commerce Conversation With Tim O'Shaughnessy and Dayna Grayson

Discussing the Explosive Market Growth Will Be the CEO and Co-Founder of LivingSocial and an Investor at North Bridge Venture Partners


CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - On June 7, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge will spotlight a fireside chat between Tim O'Shaughnessy, CEO and Co-founder of LivingSocial, and Dayna Grayson, an investor at North Bridge Venture Partners. The growth of LivingSocial (as well as its rival, Groupon) has been extraordinary, serving as a subset of an even larger category called online-to-offline commerce.

This unique Innovation Series event will center on the origins of LivingSocial, market trends driving the growth of the category and the future of online-to-offline commerce. Following the discussion there will be demonstrations by local startups developing solutions in commerce discovery, payment mechanisms, and performance measurement/improvement services that support the online-to-offline trend. All presenting companies have launched their service within the past year.

  • Tim O'Shaughnessy is the CEO and Co-founder of LivingSocial, the social commerce leader behind "LivingSocial Deals" and top-ranking Facebook applications "Pick Your Five" and "Visual Bookshelf." Since the company's founding in 2007, it has grown to 85 million users, rumoring to have more than $50 million monthly revenue and was recently valued at over $2.9 billion.

Demonstrations:

  • ClovrMedia offers a platform that converts banner, text, video, or mobile ads into Card Linked Offers -- delivering pinpoint targeting and accountability for online and mobile advertising.
  • LocalResponse is a social advertising platform that aggregates public posts and "check-ins" across multiple platforms to help brands and businesses reach their customers.
  • Manpacks is a subscription service that allows men to order and receive new sets of under-clothing in the mail on a regular basis.
  • TurningArt is a company that allows customers to rotate prints of contemporary artists in their home or office for a monthly fee.
