Buccaneer Gold: Appointment of Vice-President, Exploration


TORONTO, June 28, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BUCCANEER GOLD CORP. ("Buccaneer" or the "Company") – (TSX-V:BGG) is pleased to announce that its board of directors (the "Board") has appointed Dr. Guy Della Valle, Ph.D., M.Sc., P.Geo., as Vice-President, Exploration. Dr. Della Valle is a senior exploration geologist and possesses more than 30 years of experience in all phases of mineral exploration from green field to pre-feasibility study, including underground mining experience. He is also experienced with respect to property evaluation, due diligence, project generation for base metals, precious metals, rare earths and diamonds. Dr. Della Valle received his M.Sc. in Geology in 1973 and his Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Commencing September 1, 2011, Dr. Della Valle will be overseeing operations at the Company's Banso and Muoso Projects located in the Kibi Gold Belt in Ghana, West Africa. He will be the Company's QP (Qualified Person) with respect to these projects.

Grant of Stock Options

The Board has granted its Vice-President, Exploration 250,000 incentive stock options to purchase common shares at an exercise price of $0.40 per share with an expiry date of August 31, 2013. The total number of stock options outstanding as of the date hereof is 1,500,000.
