Egenera Extends PAN Manager(R) Functionality for the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 to Include vBlades Software

Provides Continuing Operations Paths for PRIMERGY BladeFrame Customers

LONDON and BOXBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - Jul 18, 2011) - Egenera, the only provider of open converged infrastructure software for data center management, today announced that the company has extended the functionality of Egenera® PAN Manager® Software for the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 to include vBlades. Egenera vBlade software, broadly used by the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BladeFrame BF400/BF200 installed base, allows customers to manage physical and virtual servers from a single administrative console. This means that PRIMERGY BX900 server customers can now use PAN Manager Software to deliver automated high availability and disaster recovery to any application on both physical and virtual servers.

By extending Egenera's PAN Manager with vBlade Software to the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900, Egenera is providing customers with a clear path to the latest generation of high performance Fujitsu PRIMERGY blade servers. Expanding vBlades to the BX900 platform not only helps to protect customers' PRIMERGY BladeFrame investments, but also enables IT administrators to leverage their training while transitioning to the latest hardware platform. To further assist customers in updating their PAN Manager environments, Egenera is providing tools and programs for the migration and integration of PRIMERGY BladeFrame BF400/BF200 and Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900.

"By adding vBlade software to PAN Manager for the BX900, customers can leverage compelling functionality that both helps them protect their technology and people investments and provides multiple platform options going forward," said Scott Geng, senior vice president of Engineering, Egenera. "PAN Manager with vBlades eliminates the gap between physical and virtual machine management. By unifying management processes, IT can streamline operations and automate processes to reduce downtime and improve service levels."
