San Marco Resources Samples High Grade Zones at Tecomate

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 19, 2011) - San Marco Resources (TSX VENTURE:SMN) (the Company) has received assay results from first stage reconnaissance exploration in the La Verdosa area of the Tecomate property. La Verdosa is located along the western edge of a NW trending mineralized corridor, approximately 2.5 km northwest of the Main Zone and NW Zone areas. (See company website: Properties/Mexico/Tecomate location map or visit the following link: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/smn719m.pdf)

Although recent exploration has been focusing on expanding the surface expression of mineralization in the Main and NW zone areas, the exploration team has also sampled additional prospective areas to the south and north.

La Verdosa exhibits large areas of intense argillic alteration, shear/fault zones in rhyolite tuffs, very similar to the Main Zone. Old workings, remnants of an old mill site, buildings etc. are believed to have been constructed 80 – 100 years ago, according to locals.

Sample results are:

  • 0.35m - 1.21g/t gold ; 205g/t silver ; 8.27% copper ; 0.11% lead ; 29.10% zinc

(See Company website: Properties/Mexico/Tecomate/La Verdosa Fig 1 or visit the following link: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/smn719m.pdf)

These results are from a siliceous shear/vein within the altered rhyolite tuffs.

Approximately 650m to the NW of this vein, old workings host a wider shear structure which sampled:

  • 6.2m - 0.12g/t gold ; 117g/t silver ; 1.04% copper; 1.0% lead ; 3.7% zinc.

Within this 6.2m shear structure is a siliceous vein which assayed:

  • 1.0m - 0.30g/t gold ; 611g/t silver ; 3.30% copper ; 0.76% lead ; 9.50% zinc.

(See Company website: Properties/Mexico/Tecomate/La Verdosa Fig 2 or visit the following link: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/smn719m.pdf)

Field work indicates the above results are not the same structure/veins and that additional mineralized zones may exist along the edges of this multi-collapsed caldera system.Based on these exploration results, Company geologists are preparing a widespread and extensive mapping and sampling program.

Chairman Bob Willis commented, "Exploration results at Tecomate continue to demonstrate a very diverse and dynamic mineralized system. Initial results from La Verdosa indicate high grade values that could lead to a valuable deposit for our shareholders. We have only explored about 20% of the 12,000 hectare property and intend to aggressively continue our efforts at Tecomate."

Additional exploration results from the Main Zone, NW Zone, new areas to the southeast, are expected in about 10 days. Drilling will commence at Tecomate, upon completion and compilation of current exploration data.
