Fourth-Generation Alabama Auctioneer Inducted Into Industry Hall of Fame

GADSDEN, AL--(Marketwire - Jul 22, 2011) - On Thursday, July 14, Craig King received the auction industry's highest honor with his induction into the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Hall of Fame. King joins a distinguished group of 131 auctioneers who have served the auction industry.

Since 1915, four generations of the King family have served the auction profession as pioneers, leaders and auctioneers. King, 53, is the great-grandson of James Polk King, who founded J. P. King Auction Company in 1915, making the King family one of the nation's oldest auction families. Growing up in the family business, Craig learned to be a successful businessman, auctioneer and real estate professional under the guidance of his grandfather, Leslie King and father, J. P. King III.

Craig became president and CEO of the boutique auction company, where he led it from a strong regional company to a national auction marketing firm, which specializes in luxury real estate and valuable asset auctions throughout the nation. During this period, Craig and his three siblings, also involved in the family business, took ownership of the company. Throughout his career, Craig has personally sold over 10,000 properties with sales prices totaling over $1 billion. He holds a real estate license in 15 states and an auction license in 22 states.

Recently, J. P. King sold the Kluge Winery for over $8 million, mostly to Donald Trump, who several years prior, quoted Craig in his book "The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Heard."

A member of the NAA since 1989, King has served the association and industry in multiple leadership positions, including president of the Auction Marketing Institute, trustee of the National Auctioneers Foundation and member of the auction committee established in partnership between the NAA and the National Association of Realtors. King has served two terms as president of the Alabama Auctioneers Association and was inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame in 2006. A licensed auctioneer and real estate broker in multiple states, Craig also maintains the Certified Auctioneer Institute (CAI) and Accredited Auctioneer Real Estate (AARE) designation from the NAA. King has also earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the CCIM Institute.
