KEMA Named a Seaport-Enhanced Prime Contractor for the Navy

KEMA Team to Offer Engineering, Technical, and Programmatic Support Services

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2011) - KEMA, a leading authority in energy consulting, testing, and certification, is now authorized as a Seaport-Enhanced (Seaport-e) prime contractor to offer engineering and program management support services to the Navy, up to 2014 (with the potential to extend the contract period to April 2019).

Through the SeaPort-e contract, all naval agencies, including the Navy Systems Commands, the United States Marine Corps, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, can issue Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, multiple award contracts (MACs) to procure support services in 22 areas. The SeaPort-e MAC program has a five-year base contract period, which began in 2008, with the option for a five-year contract period extension. The total contract ceiling is over $123 Billion (including the extension option).

"This is the first large-scale federal contract KEMA has earned," said Mark Burke, a KEMA vice president and lead contract manager for the Seaport-e contract. "With this award, KEMA can now serve as a prime contractor and expand our services with the Navy on innovative smart grid infrastructure projects, and with other federal agencies on green building, energy efficiency, and other programs we have been involved in. It is a significant achievement and opportunity for KEMA over the next few years."

KEMA's team has the expertise to offer services in many of the specified areas, such as support for system and process engineering, modeling, simulation, quality assurance, logistics, training, and organizational assessment. The team is qualified to provide support services in all seven geographical zones outlined in the SeaPort-e contract. KEMA plans to add small business subcontractors to expand its team of key partners as needed for SeaPort-e MACs throughout the contract period.

"KEMA and its team members are proud to partner with the Navy and provide support services to help advance its goals," said Burke.
