HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 16, 2011) - If you think washing dishes by hand saves more water than running a dishwasher, you are not alone. A new national survey fielded by Impulse Research on behalf of Bosch home appliances found that almost half of Americans think washing dishes by hand saves more water than using a dishwasher. Yet, dishwashers save up to 85 percent more water when compared to hand washing.

Of those surveyed, more than a third overestimated and thought that it takes six gallons of water to wash a normal-sized load of dishes in the dishwasher, compared to two to three gallons with a Bosch dishwasher.

"We were shocked to learn that Americans think washing dishes by hand saves water. In actuality, hand washing dishes requires 43 gallons of water, compared to a Bosch dishwasher that uses as little as two gallons," said Micaela Shaw, Brand Manager for Bosch home appliances. "The new Bosch 800 Plus is absolutely the most water- and energy-efficient dishwasher in the U.S. -- using minimal resources per cycle, which is great for the environment and your pocketbook."

Indeed, Bosch has earned a reputation for its advanced dishwashers, which are not only German engineered to save an additional two gallons of water per cycle, compared to the average dishwasher, but are also the quietest in each class.

Speaking of quiet, the survey also found that 38 percent of Americans believe their dishwashers are the biggest noisemakers in the household -- coming in just behind the noise made by their children, and just above their spouses, domestic partners or roommates.

"While we can't control noise made by kids, significant others or roommates, quiet dishwashers like those from Bosch certainly reduce the noise level," said Shaw.

Employing 18 unique sound-reducing technologies, the Bosch 800 Plus dishwasher operates at a virtually silent 39 dBA and is the quietest dishwasher in North America.

Available now, the Bosch 800 Plus dishwasher features concealed controls, recessed handles, or bar handle for an MSRP ranging from $1,399 to 2,099.
