Government of Canada Grants $1,009,000 in Funding to Sous-Traitance Industrielle Quebec

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 18, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Sous-Traitance Industrielle Québec (STIQ) has been granted $1,009,000 in non-repayable funding to pursue its activities.

"The Government of Canada is proud to support organizations that, like STIQ, are putting specific measures in place to assist small and medium-sized firms in their efforts to enhance their performance on increasingly diversified and competitive markets," said Minister Lebel.

STIQ's mission is to help suppliers expand and diversify their client base in order to improve the supply chain across the manufacturing sector. The organization offers a variety of services in the areas of business opportunity tracking, private and public market watch, global business evaluation and productivity diagnosis. Its 650 members mainly include large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector.

This financial assistance from the Government of Canada will serve primarily for the organization of networking activities between prime manufacturers and suppliers, including the Buyer / Seller Show, the production and dissemination of strategic business information, and the financing of the organization's operating costs as well as a study on market trends.

This contribution has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of Quebec's SMEs.
