CIFS/SMB/SMB2 and Cloud Plugfests
Microsoft will be the underwriter, this year in partnership with NetApp, to support the 5-day CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest which is co-located with SDC 2011. The CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest will start on Sunday, September 18, and will allow vendors to bring their implementations of CIFS/SMB/SMB2 to test, identify, and fix bugs in a collaborative setting with the goal of providing a forum in which companies can develop interoperable products. Last year's Plugfest featured over 100 engineers and developers from 26 companies testing over 50 products and platforms. Participants included Addonics Technologies, Apple, Centrify, Cisco, Citrix, Codenomicon, EMC, Erion, IBM, Isilon, Konica Minolta, Likewise, Microsoft, NetApp, Nexenta, Novell, Oracle, Quantel, Red Hat, Riverbed, Samba, Scale Computing, SwiftTest, Ubiqx, and Visuality Systems.

New to SDC in 2011 is a Cloud technology Plugfest that will have vendors testing their implementation of SNIA CDMI standard and OGF OCCI cloud-standards. The purpose of this Plugfest is for vendors to test, identify, and fix bugs in a collaborative setting with the goal of providing a forum in which companies can develop interoperable products.
