The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa's Trellis Room Wins Wine Spectator Award

Restaurant Focuses on Quality Ingredients, Exceptional Wines

MOBILE, AL--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2011) - Quality standards set forth in regards to menu, service and fine wines have earned The Trellis Room restaurant the prestigious honor of being presented the coveted Wine Spectator Award for 2011.

Located inside The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa, a premier luxury hotel in Mobile, AL, The Trellis Room is a AAA 4 Diamond restaurant focused on using only the highest-quality seasonal produce, local Gulf seafood and USDA Prime beef. While it's flavorful menu changes with the seasons, this Mobile restaurant maintains an emphasis on classic cooking techniques with a Southern flair mixed with the latest culinary trends, impeccable service and, of course, an award-winning selection of word-class wines.

"Winning the Wine Spectator Award means a great deal to our team," says Marty Pollock, Trellis Room Chef. "A lot of effort went into choosing wines from boutique wineries from across the world as well as the more recognizable names. Our goal was to put together a list that would 'WOW' both the beginner and the expert wine enthusiast and would also pair perfectly with our food. To be recognized for it on a national level gives us great pleasure."

Chef Marty, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, also serves as culinary operations manager at The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa. His extensive professional experience includes Banquet Chef for KSL Resorts in Atlanta, GA; Chef De Cuisine for Renaissance Hotels in Atlanta, and opening team member with Auberge Resorts at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC. Prior to obtaining his official training, Chef Marty gained over 15 years of professional culinary experience in small Italian restaurants in Buffalo, NY.

Also playing a hand in the success of this contemporary restaurant, Holly Alberto, an introductory Sommelier, has been a part of this Mobile Bay hotel's Trellis Room team for more than three years. Recently completing the first certification class and currently preparing to complete the final stage required to become a certified Sommelier, she is a student at the University of Alabama majoring in Restaurant and Hospitality Management.
