FBI-LEEDA Chooses Technology From Enabl-u Technologies to Support Groundbreaking Distance Learning Course


JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 11, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) has announced a new and groundbreaking supervisory liability distance learning course delivered using technology developed by Enabl-u Technologies. Enabl-u training development experts worked with Eric Daigle, FBI-LEEDA's general counsel, to adapt this important part of the supervisory training class that FBI-LEEDA has taught to thousands of supervisors since March 2011.

The training program covers multiple topics related to the legal standards applicable to public safety, providing new and experienced supervisors with tools and information to protect themselves and their departments from liability. The topics covered in the program include a review of constitutional standards applicable to supervisor liability, deliberate indifference, and the use of force in investigations. The program also reviews legal standards applicable to internal affairs investigations and sexual harassment.

The patented technology delivers high-quality training from any location with Internet access and supports an instructor-led format, including the submission of course papers. The platform also provides an online forum to encourage interaction among students.

A group of supervisors from Lake Charles Police Department participated in a pilot of the training program. Chief Donald Dixon explained that "there are obvious advantages to classroom training, but law enforcement needs to embrace distance learning, given the growing constraints on our time and resources and the need to quickly train newly promoted supervisors. I believe that this course is as close as you can get to a classroom without being in one. We were very impressed."
