TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 12, 2011) - Virgin Metals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:VGM) today released details regarding initial assessment efforts at their Alamos Gold project located in Sonora Mexico.
"The historical La Campana mine that operated on the property was one of the higher grade gold operations in Mexico during its lifetime." said Chris Frostad, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The Alamos property clearly demonstrates significant potential for gold exploration and as a result of our preliminary observations, plans are now underway to map the entire area as well as the accessible adits from the old mine."
Highlights
Alamos Project
The Alamos project is 300 Ha in size and located NW of Caborca in Sonora, north of significant mineralized structures being mined/explored currently by others. The property hosts the historic La Campana mine containing a series of underground adits that produced gold in the 1930's and 1940's.
The area appears to contain an intrusive body (granodiorite) surrounded by series of quartz veins. Pyrite is visible throughout the property.
