Trainer Communications Debuts Media SharkTank; First-of-Its-Kind Event Challenges Silicon Valley CEOs to Make Their Best Pitch to Broadcast and Business Press

Top Technology Firms to Give Their Best Media Pitch to Panel of Judges at Invitation-Only Charity Event to Support Baykeeper

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 19, 2011) - Trainer Communications, a full-service public relations, integrated marketing and social media agency servicing the enterprise and consumer technology sectors, will host its first annual media SharkTank event on November 17, 2011. CEOs of technology companies will have an opportunity to pitch their company story to a panel of top-tier broadcast and print media and position themselves for future coverage. Proceeds from the event will benefit the San Francisco Baykeeper.

Each CEO will deliver a three-minute pitch to a panel of Bay Area broadcast and business press journalists, who will then rate each pitch and provide immediate feedback. The event will provide invaluable experience for CEOs as they face "friendly fire" from several seasoned television and print media, helping them to hone their presentation skills and refine their stories to shine when given their next chance to be interviewed. SharkTank winners will be immediately announced at the cocktail reception, hosted by Trainer Communications, allowing participants to network with other technology leaders as well as the panel of journalists. The prestigious panel includes:

  • Diane Dwyer, NBC
  • Kym McNicholas, Forbes
  • Nicole Solis, GigaOm
  • Peter Delevett, San Jose Mercury News
  • Richard Hart, ABC
  • Wade Roush, Xconomy

The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hotel Vitale, an elegant venue in San Francisco situated on a beautiful stretch of The Embarcadero, overlooking the Bay Bridge. Admission to compete in the event is $1,500 per company, which includes entry for one executive spokesperson and an executive guest.

"San Francisco Baykeeper is honored to be selected as the beneficiary of the SharkTank event," said Deb Self, Baykeeper Executive Director. "We're grateful for any company that recognizes the value of clean waters and protecting San Francisco Bay from pollution. We're thrilled to be the recipient of this event."

Inspired by ABC's "The Shark Tank," a show where inventors present ideas or products to a panel of wealthy entrepreneurs in hopes of investment, Trainer Communications created a similar event in the spirit of Silicon Valley entrepreneurism.

"We are all about making connections. Every day, we connect our clients with top influencers -- whether media, analysts, bloggers, partners, prospects or customers," said Susan Thomas, CEO, Trainer Communications. "SharkTank is just one more way for Trainer Communications to offer its influential network to leading Silicon Valley companies. It will be fascinating to watch CEOs navigate the 'shark-infested' waters at our event and position themselves for future coverage with some of the most respected media brands in the country. And to top it off, we are honored to work with Baykeeper as our charitable partner to keep our Bay beautiful."
