Hamburg, 19 October 2011 - Asian Bamboo AG ('Asian Bamboo ', the 'Company',
ISIN: DE000A0M6M79, ticker symbol '5AB', ADR trading symbol 'ASIBY'), a
leading integrated company in the bamboo industry, is pleased to announce
that it has entered into the following loan agreement with PROPARCO, the
French development finance institution:

Amount:  Up to EUR 20 million
Term:    7 years
Interest rate:  Euribor + 2.5%
Options:  PROPARCO receives 143,900 options in Asian Bamboo with an
exercise
    price of EUR 26.34
Other terms: Environmental and Social Action Plan ('ESAP)

The option price was calculated as a 20% premium to the average share price
over the period 1 June 2011 to 31 August 2011. The earliest and latest
exercise dates of the options are three and seven years, respectively, from
the date of signing the loan agreement. If the options are exercised, they
will be converted against the Company's treasury shares.

In line with PROPARCO's common practice when entering into a long-term
relationship, the two parties have developed an environmental and social
action plan ('ESAP') which will further align Asian Bamboo's operations
with international best practice in terms of environmental and social
responsibilities.
