TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 25, 2011) - On Thursday, November 17, at 4 p.m. Make-A-Wish Canada, alongside wish child, Rachel; country singer, Drake Jensen, and 300+ students from Don Mills Collegiate Institute will be coming together at Shops at Don Mills to attempt to create the Guinness World Records® title for the largest human star! This record attempt event falls in line with Guinness World Record Day, taking place worldwide November 17 and 18.
Wish child Rachel, now 9 1/4 years old, had her wish granted in 2008, and she has been working closely with Make-A-Wish on the world record application and event. "Creating the world's largest human star is another way that my family, Make-A-Wish and I can reach out to other children and share the hope, strength and joy that is experienced with a wish – like my beautiful butterfly garden," said Rachel.
Make-A-Wish is selling sparkling stars for $5 each, leading up to and at the event. Students and guests will be asked to wear and turn on theirs when forming the human star. "This event and star will help symbolize the true power of a wish for children like me with life-threatening illnesses," said Rachel.
Event guests are encouraged to bring a new toy to contribute to the 2011 Toy Drive.
Media are invited to attend the event, take part in the star formation and to conduct interviews with Rachel, high school students and others. Interview requests should be made in advance.
