Onset Dermatologics Launches HylatopicPlus(R) Cream 450 Gram Jar for Treating Eczema and Other Skin Conditions

Hylatopic(R) Becomes the Most Prescribed Skin Barrier Repair Therapy Brand

CUMBERLAND, RI--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2011) - Onset Dermatologics, a PreCision Dermatology company and a leader in developing and commercializing novel, prescription products for improving skin health, today announced the availability of HylatopicPlus Cream in a convenient 450 gram jar with pump dispenser. HylatopicPlus Cream is indicated to manage and relieve the burning, itching and pain experienced with various types of skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis (eczema), allergic contact dermatitis and radiation dermatitis. HylatopicPlus Cream also helps alleviate dry, waxy skin by maintaining a moist wound and skin environment, which is beneficial to the healing process.

The large HylatopicPlus Cream 450 gram jar is particularly well-suited for those patients who are affected by eczema symptoms over a large surface area of their skin. HylatopicPlus Cream was previously available only in a 100 gram tube. The pump dispenser also helps avoid contamination of the product, even with repeated use.

"HylatopicPlus delivers ceramides and other essential lipids to the skin's top layer. It is well documented that eczematous skin is deficient in these components, and some ceramide deficiency also has been observed in the skin of eczema patients that is dry but not inflamed," said James Del Rosso, DO, Dermatology Residency Program Director, Valley Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Clinical Professor of Dermatology, Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Henderson, Nevada. "The large jar will enable eczema patients to apply HylatopicPlus Cream diffusely and regularly to all affected areas for better clinical outcomes."

HylatopicPlus has been clinically proven to improve the symptoms of atopic dermatitis. The product is formulated to rapidly hydrate the stratum corneum (the top layer of the epidermis) and provide a semi-permeable barrier that protects against irritants and excessive water loss through the skin. HylatopicPlus incorporates hyaluronic acid to deliver a blend of physiologic lipids, including ceramide, to restore healthy barrier function.

"With the addition of a 450 gram jar with convenient pump dispensing mechanism, the Hylatopic product line continues to expand, offering more treatment options for patients and clinicians," noted Jeff Wayne, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Onset Dermatologics. "The Hylatopic product line, including HylatopicPlus Emollient Foam, HylatopicPlus Cream, HylatopicPlus-Aurstat Kit and the original Hylatopic Emollient Foam, has recently become the most prescribed barrier repair therapy brand, and we believe this success is due to the clinical results seen with the products and the positive experience patients have using them."

HylatopicPlus Cream is available in the U.S. by prescription only.

About Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema)

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a common skin disorder characterized by dry, cracked, itching and burning skin. Other symptoms may include blisters with oozing or crusting, changes in the skin tone and thickening of the skin called lichenification1. Eczema frequently affects children, with approximately 10.7 percent of all children experiencing a diagnosis within the past 12 months, according to a recent study2. Patients with eczema have a compromised skin barrier, allowing excessive water loss through the epidermal layer of skin and reducing its permeability.

Important Safety Information for HylatopicPlus Cream

HylatopicPlus is contraindicated in persons with a known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation. If clinical signs of infection are present, appropriate treatment should be initiated; use of HylatopicPlus Cream may be continued during the anti-infective therapy.
