AmericInn Hotels Around the Country Sends Thousands of Care Boxes to Military Troops

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - Nov 16, 2011) - In a Veterans Day salute to members of America's military serving overseas, AmericInn hotels around the country organized special community events last week, preparing and shipping several thousand care packages to troops deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq and other bases worldwide.

In many communities, AmericInn employees and managers were joined by citizen volunteers, school children, veterans and employees of other businesses to prepare the care packages containing food treats, personal care items, clothing, games and donated gift merchandise. Local chapters of Blue Star Mothers, a national military support organization, also joined in several of the special events.

"We are encouraged and energized by the outpouring of support for America's military that was demonstrated by AmericInn employees and members of their communities in response to this Veterans Day initiative," said Paul Kirwin, president and CEO of AmericInn. AmericInn hotels reported that the gift box packing events attracted participation from a broad spectrum of citizens in their communities including elected officials, local businesses, student groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, church groups, retirees and even competing hotel employees.

For example, the AmericInn in Thief River Falls, Minn., packed 96 boxes in 45 minutes with a variety of volunteers including the city's Mayor who asked that the hotel manager appear at the next City Council meeting to be recognized for the event. In Fargo, N.D., the AmericInn surpassed its goal of 20 care packages as volunteers prepared 28 boxes for the military members. "This was a great way for our community and the AmericInn to show their support for our troops," said Jay Schreiber, manager of the AmericInn Fargo.
