AlliedBarton Security Services and HR Plus Reschedule Arlington, VA, Workplace Violence Prevention Event

Free Seminar Moved to January 11, 2012

SILVER SPRING, MD--(Marketwire - Nov 17, 2011) - AlliedBarton Security Services, www.alliedbarton.com, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, and HR Plus, a leading provider of comprehensive solutions for employment and background screening, have rescheduled their free workplace violence prevention seminar. Formerly scheduled for Monday, November 21, 2011, in Arlington, VA, the new date and location is Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place, Silver Spring, Maryland. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. with the seminar held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Held in concert with the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety, www.iahss.org, the seminar will focus on workplace violence in the emergency department.

According to the Emergency Nurses Association, one in four ED nurses has been physically assaulted more than 20 times in the past three years. The Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently reported a 24 percent increase in violent acts in EDs caused by patients who were brought in because of a drug or alcohol related incident and in 2010 The Joint Commission issued a sentinel alert. "These types of reports are enough to keep any hospital administrator up at night," said Ken Bukowski, Vice President, Healthcare, AlliedBarton Security Services. "Healthcare facilities and especially emergency departments present unique security challenges. However, there are things you can do, which we address in this seminar, to further protect your ED and entire healthcare facility."

Seminar discussion and workshop topics will include incidences of workplace violence in the emergency department; preparing for the unthinkable -- an active shooter in a hospital; combating domestic violence and its effect in hospitals; and protecting hospital employees and assets. Speakers include Kenneth Bukowski, Vice President, Healthcare, AlliedBarton; Paul Stab, Vice President of Business Development, AlliedBarton; and a representative from the International Association for Healthcare Security. There will also be an open panel discussion.

Attendees will receive a complimentary eBook preview of Bill Whitmore's new book, "Potential: Workplace Violence Prevention and Your Organizational Success" and the full eBook version when it is released later this year.

"Potential," www.potentialthebook.com, shows how a range of stakeholders -- from CEOs and other senior leaders to building management, human resources, contract security and law enforcement -- can work together to lower an organization's workplace violence risk and enhance its overall morale and performance.

Media interested in attending this event are encouraged to RSVP to the press contact in this release.
