Tabling of the 2010-11 Departmental Performance Reports and Canada's Performance 2010-11

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 17, 2011) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, today tabled in the House of Commons the 2010–11 Departmental Performance Reports on behalf of 95 federal departments and agencies. The President also tabled the eleventh edition of Canada's Performance.

This year, for the first time, Departmental Performance Reports and Canada's Performance are being predominantly made available to members of Parliament and Canadians in electronic format, rather than in printed volumes of thousands of pages, as was done only a year ago.

"The 2010–11 Departmental Performance Reports and Canada's Performance 2010–11 demonstrate the Government's commitment to achieve results for Canadians," said Minister Clement. "By significantly reducing the number of paper copies of these reports, the Government is delivering a more cost-effective, sustainable and modern way of doing business."

Departments and agencies prepare departmental performance reports at the end of the fiscal year to inform parliamentarians and Canadians on how they performed based on the plans and expected results that were set out in the annual departmental Reports on Plans and Priorities.

Along with the Departmental Performance Reports, the Minister also tabled Canada's Performance. As a companion piece to the Departmental Performance Reports, this report provides an overview of how the performance of individual departments and agencies contributes to broader, government-wide outcomes.

"The tabling of these important documents today demonstrates the Government's commitment to invest in the priorities of Canadians, while keeping taxes low," said Minister Clement. "This is how we can ensure the economy continues to grow and create jobs."

All reports and supporting documents are available on the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat website.
