Government of Canada Supports Lanaudiere economique

SAINT-JACQUES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 17, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the organization Lanaudière économique has been granted two non-repayable contributions totalling $115,000 to carry out two business transfer and guidance projects in the Lanaudière region.

"This funding from the Government of Canada to Lanaudière économique is yet another example of our determination to support entrepreneurship and economic development," said Minister Lebel.

For the first project, the organization received $85,000 in funding to help business leaders ensure their succession. This guidance project is expected to help improve the viability of regional enterprises and preserve local jobs.

The second project, for which the organization received a $30,000 contribution, involves providing the region's enterprises, notably those operating in the new economy, with consulting services to help them increase their capabilities in, among other things, innovation commercialization, automation and industrial design. This project comes in response to an action plan adopted by Lanaudière économique and its regional economic development partners that lays out the main problems and challenges facing the region's enterprises.

This financial assistance has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program.
