Typhoon Exploration has Begun a Drilling Campaign in Chibougamau, in the Heart of Plan Nord Territory

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2011) - Typhoon Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:TYP) announces that it has begun a drilling campaign on the Monexco-McCorkill Property located in Chibougamau and is pursuing its drilling campaign on the Fayolle Property.

MONEXCO-McCORKILL PROPERTY

Located NE of Chibougamau, in the heart of the Plan Nord territory, this property has returned several significant results, associated with quartz-carbonate-tourmaline veins and veinlets most often hosted in quartz-feldspar porphyry dykes (QFP).

  • 2007, the channel sampling of the VG gold zone reported coarse and angular fragments of native gold with a grade of 40.0 g/t Au over 1.0 metre. Other sampled areas returned values of 12.49 g/t Au over 1.0 metre and 8.47 g/t Au over 1.0 metre. (see press release dated March 11, 2008)
  • 2008, a prospecting and mapping campaign revealed the possibility of extending the gold corridor with several significant gold values in selected samples. The best analysis were 29.9 g/t, 13.8 g/t, 12.1 g/t, 38.2 g/t and 32.7 g/t, of gold. (see press release dated December 3, 2008)
  • 2011, a drilling campaign is currently underway.

The current drilling campaign is the first to be carried out on the main showing and on the new VG showing. It will target among others, an EW direction shear corridor containing gold quartz-veins, more or less secant to the shear direction. The gold enriched quartz-veins (more than 125 g/t Au, composite bulk sample of veins totalling 25 kg, carried out in 2008) are contained in an intrusive mass of granophyric nature often anomalous in gold. The porphyric granophyre is located at the interface of a chloritic mafic flow (basalt-andesite) and a block tuffaceous unit of felsic affinity. The drill holes will be oriented in such a way to intersect the quartz-veins and verify their distribution. Furthermore, the drillings will attempt to confirm gold values inside the granophyric intrusive. The goal being to evaluate the possibility of combining the high grades obtained in the quartz-veins with the low grades possibly present in the intrusive.
