Kratos Names Rick DeFatta as Weapons Systems Solutions Division Vice President

Key Senior Executive Strategic Hire Significantly Strengthens Kratos Business Development and Strategic Pursuit Capabilities


SAN DIEGO, Dec. 21, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that Richard (Rick) DeFatta has joined the company as Vice President of Engineering Support Services for the Madison Research Business Unit of the Weapon Systems Solutions (WSS) Division. Mr. DeFatta will work from the WSS Division's Huntsville, AL headquarters. DeFatta brings 33 years of expertise in life cycle support of major weapons systems, technology development, and testing to Kratos.

Prior to joining Kratos, Mr. DeFatta was Vice President of Teledyne Solutions, where he managed a staff of professionals providing systems engineering, integration, test, program management, and technical support to the Missile Defense Agency and other Department of Defense program offices responsible for development, production, and fielding of missile defense weapons systems. As a U.S. Army Colonel, DeFatta was Project Manager for the Army's Cruise Missile Defense Systems Project Office. He managed the development, production, fielding, and sustainment for five of the Army's Air and Missile Defense products providing integrated capability for forward deployed forces. Previously, he also served as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, the U.S. Product Manager for the Medium Extended Air Defense System, and Director of Kwajalein Missile Range.

Mr. DeFatta graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1978, and holds Master of Science degrees in Engineering Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology and Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
