SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 3, 2012) - Those in search of a treasured prize must follow the map to Barona Resort & Casino for X Marks the Slot, a free slot tournament scheduled for every Wednesday in January. Club Barona members can compete in the tournament once a week to win a share of $18,250 in weekly prizes -- a total payout of $73,000 for the month.

Barona's X Marks the Slot tournament will be held each Wednesday of the month -- January 4, 11, 18 and 25 -- from noon to 10 p.m. Free registration will take place for Club Barona members on the casino floor in front of the El Rancho Grande Mexican restaurant. Participants will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis and have an opportunity to engage in five minutes of tournament play on a designated slot machine.
Patrons may qualify for a prize based upon their final score each tournament day. Cash prizes include:
- $5,000 for scores of 7,000 or higher;
- $500 for scores ranging from 6,000 to 6,999; and
- $100 for scores ranging from 5,000 to 5,999.
Opportunities for myFREEPLAY prizes are also available:
- $50 for scores ranging from 4,000 and 4,999; and
- $25 for scores ranging from 3,000 and 3,999.
Barona will load myFREEPLAY prizes onto each winner's account by 2 p.m. of the day following tournament play, while winners of the $100 and $500 cash prizes will be paid in the tournament area by the slot cashier. Winners of the $5000 cash prize may collect their loot at the Main Cashier's Cage.
