Hat Creek Candle Company Announces Change in Business Direction

WATERTOWN, WI--(Marketwire - Jan 18, 2012) - Kari Barnes and Wendy Sallam, owners of the Hat Creek Candle Company in Watertown, have announced a change in business direction. As of February 17, they will be closing their retail store and focusing their efforts on the growing online and wholesale aspects of their business.

"When you are passionate about something, it is so easy to get too many irons in the fire," said Kari Barnes. "By narrowing our focus to the two fastest-growing lines we will be able to really strengthen the business and preserve the quality of life that we were striving for when we started on this journey."

"After eight years, it was a difficult decision to close the outlet store," stated Wendy Sallam, "but we are excited about the gains we've seen nationally and internationally with our online and wholesale business."

Clearance of discontinued but first quality items will begin on January 23rd and continue through February 9th at the outlet store located at 311 S. 3rd Street in Watertown. A giant and final OOPS Sale, the popular Hat Creek version of a factory seconds sale, will follow beginning February 10th and continuing through February 17th.

The Hat Creek Candle Company started in a kitchen in 1999. The outlet store was added in 2004 when the company moved its operations to the 9000 sq. ft downtown Watertown location. The company has been featured on The Food Network's show, Unwrapped, and has shipped candles as far away as South Korea and New Zealand. Manufacturing operations will continue on at the Watertown location as the company expands its online retail, wholesale and international divisions. www.hatcreekcandle.com
