Linley Tech Data Center Conference Explores Key Data Center Design Challenges

Discusses Implications of Cloud Computing, Virtualization and Network Convergence on Data Center Networking Systems and Servers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 19, 2012) - Cloud computing, virtualization and network convergence are more than buzzwords and these trends have real implications for all types of data-center networking systems and servers, according to The Linley Group. These topics and more will be discussed at the Linley Tech Data Center Conference, February 7-8, 2012, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in San Jose, Calif. The annual two-day, single-track conference will include technical presentations and panels featuring more than 10 leading companies, exhibits and networking opportunities. The conference is the only one of its kind focused exclusively on server processors, security processors, accelerators and networking components used in data centers for private and public clouds.

The event will include an introductory keynote presentation by Jag Bolaria and Bob Wheeler, senior analysts with The Linley Group, providing an overview of technologies, equipment and components deployed in data centers. It will also cover the data-center market environment. Martin Casado, co-founder and CTO of Nicira, will keynote on the second day, providing an overview of OpenFlow and software-defined networks (SDN). He will discuss how these approaches address the current challenges in data centers and cloud networks.

"Data center managers face increasing pressure to reduce power and deployment costs, and at the same time expand bandwidth to handle increasing network traffic from video and smartphones," said Bolaria. "Our sessions and opportunities for interaction with technology leaders provide the context needed for making educated decisions on the design of systems for next-generation data centers."

Topics to be covered at the event include power-efficient server processors; multi-core processors; application layer switching; network architecture for data centers; OpenFlow; 100 Gigabit Ethernet; scalable backplane design; security; future directions in data-center equipment design and more.

Presenting companies include Cavium, AppliedMicro, Freescale, Netronome, MoSys, Xilinx, LSI, Gennum, Emulex, Inphi and PLX.

Attendees will have an opportunity to visit vendor exhibits and network with industry leaders during the cocktail reception on February 7 at 4:15 p.m.

The Linley Group offers free attendance to qualified registrants who sign up by February 1, 2012. For more information on the conference program and to register, please visit http://www.linleygroup.com/events/register.php?num=17
