Barona Welcomes the Year of the Dragon With $80,000 in Cash Giveaways, Hongbao Envelopes, Lion and Dragon Dancers and More

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 19, 2012) - Barona Resort & Casino will welcome the "Year of the Dragon" with $80,000 in cash giveaways during a two-week celebration for the Lunar New Year. From January 23 to February 6, players can win a share of $80,000 in cash giveaways and enjoy live cultural performances. Barona's Casino Managers will also be handing out Hongbao, traditional red envelopes filled with lucky money, during the celebrations.

Barona will kick off the Lunar New Year with a cultural celebration on Monday, Jan. 23 and culminate Lunar New Year with another celebration on Monday, Feb. 6. The celebrations begin at 8 p.m. and include a parade featuring traditional Lion and Dragon dancers as well as a blessing at the casino's main Porte Cochere entrance.

Additional details of Barona's Lunar New Year celebration include:

• On January 23 and again February 6 from noon to 10 p.m., one Club Barona winner will be selected every 15 minutes for the Special Edition Power Giveaway to select a Hongbao envelope containing prize amounts ranging from $200 to $2,000. Over the course of the two days, a total of $50,000 in prizes will be awarded to 80 lucky Club Barona members.
• On January 23 and again on February 6 at 10 p.m., three Club Barona members will be drawn to win $5,000 each, totaling $30,000 among six winners. Club Barona members can earn one drawing entry per 500 myPOINTS earned from midnight to 9 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
• The Ho Wan Noodle Shop, which was named Best Noodle House in the 2011 San Diego Union-Tribune "San Diego's Best" Reader's Poll, will offer a Lunar New Year menu which includes Shrimp Dumplings, Chicken Corn Soup, Vietnamese Style Basil Lobster and Eight Treasures Sweet Congee.
• The 24-hour Sage Café will feature special a la carte items such as Chicken Soup in Young Coconut, Braised Sliced Abalone with Oyster Sauce, Vietnamese Style Basil Lobster, XO Spicy Sauce Steam Chilean Sea Bass, Chinese Broccoli with Sausage, Sweet Bird Nest Soup and American Ginseng Tea.
