Intrinsyc to Showcase Advanced Metering Infrastructure Module for Smart Meters at DistribuTECH 2012

Intrinsyc Expands M2M Solutions With AMI Module for Fast Growing Smart Meter Market

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2012) - Intrinsyc Software International (TSX:ICS), a leading developer of intelligent connected devices, today announced the first demonstration of its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Module, for incorporation into smart meters at DistribuTECH 2012, January 24-26, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) are systems that measure, collect and analyze energy usage, and provide two-way communication with metering devices such as electricity meters. The network between the measurement devices and business systems allows collection and distribution of information to consumers, suppliers, utility companies and service providers. This enables more efficient utilization of energy resources, greater control over energy consumption by consumers, and new business models for utility companies.

"Intrinsyc is creating a series of vertical solutions for the M2M market and we saw the need for a reliable and powerful AMI module as a top priority," said Tracy Rees, CEO for Intrinsyc. "We are excited about the introduction of our module and the opportunity to demonstrate our smart meter solution with our partner PayGO Electric."

In the main exhibit Hall in Booth #4642, Intrinsyc will demonstrate a working smart meter which includes the AMI module connected OTA on a public network to the backend system of partner, PayGo Electric. Intrinsyc has incorporated PayGo's "Real-Time" Pre-Pay firmware on the AMI Module. Therefore, in addition to transferring the meter information, the joint Intrinsyc-PayGo demonstration will include the ability to remotely add additional funds to the customer's via a host of methods or terminate service in "real-time" when the customer's funds are exhausted.

"Distributed processing is the future of Smart Meters. Offering a Real-Time Pre-Pay solution is a significant component of the utility service offering. Intrinsyc has produced a communication platform that helps meet that goal. We believe that the Intrinsyc module and its long-term capabilities are ideally suited for the future AMI industry and we're very glad to be a part of their success." said Ron Sewell, President and CEO of PayGo.

In addition to the demonstration, Intrinsyc technical resources will be on hand to discuss all of our M2M solutions in greater detail including the following:

  • Device and System Architecture Guidance
  • M2M Wireless Modules
  • Design and Development Services
  • Application Development
  • Remote Device Management
  • Carrier Certification
  • Turnkey Product Development
