HALLOWELL, ME--(Marketwire - Jan 24, 2012) - Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premiere continuing care retirement community, welcomes back best-selling author and Colby College professor, Tilar J. Mazzeo. She will discuss The Widow Clicquot, her book about Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, the woman behind the iconic Veuve Clicquot label. The widow led her late husband's wine business, becoming one of the world's first great businesswomen and one of the richest women of her time.
The event takes place Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at 4:00 p.m., in the Media Room at Granite Hill.
"We're grateful Professor Mazzeo is coming back to visit us," said Kathy Jorgensen, Granite Hill's executive director. "Her presentation last October of her book, The Secret of Chanel No. 5, was very well attended. And we've had many requests from the community to invite her again. Professor Mazzeo teaches British Romantic poetry, travel writing, and literary theory at Colby. She is the author of Plagiarism and Literary Property in the Romantic Period (University of Pennsylvania Press 2007); the New York Times best-seller, The Widow Clicquot (Harper Collins 2008); The Secret of Chanel No. 5 (Harper Collins, 2010), and the forthcoming, The Ritz at War (Harper Collins, 2012). She will discuss The Secret of Chanel No. 5, read excerpts from it, and sign copies for interested readers. Books will be available for purchase at the event, or you can bring your copy if you've already purchased one.
