The latest edition is focused on the use of third-party services by today's web businesses. Today's websites and applications are increasingly composite, incorporating a variety of third-party features and rich internet application functionalities from beyond the firewall that can be executed remotely or locally. Key application performance data trends uncovered in this report include:

  • Differences in the use of third-party domains across vertical industries;
       
  • For select industries, the average mobile page uses fewer third-party services than the average Web page; and
      
  • 44 percent of web transactions of the top 50 retailers have a dependency on Amazon EC2.
