QUÉBEC CITY, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 16, 2012) - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec region, has released a list of offenders from Gaspé and Lower St. Lawrence that were fined in November and December 2011 as well as January 2012 for various infringements of the Fisheries Act.
The fines imposed on the offenders total $33,750. In addition to a fine, one of the offenders had his catch and some of his illegal gear confiscated. Restrictions were imposed on another offender forbidding him to be on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, between Trois-Pistoles and Baie-des-Sables, for 36 months. The offenders are:
