Canada Revenue Agency Services During Tax Filing Season

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 27, 2012) - The deadline to file your personal income tax and benefit return is fast approaching. What does tax time mean for you?

• Do you receive employment income?
• Have you withdrawn from your registered retirement savings plan (RRSP)?
• Do you want to apply for the Goods and services tax/Harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit?
• Do you want to claim a refund or carry forward your unused tuition, education and textbook amounts?

For these, as well as many other reasons, you have to file an income tax return. File your income tax and benefit return by April 30, 2012-your return will be processed faster, and you may receive your refund sooner.

For helpful tips to get you ready to file your 2011 tax return, go to www.cra.gc.ca/getready. If the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Web site does not answer all of your questions, you can call the CRA enquiries line at 1-800-959-8281. During tax-filing season, agents are available from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (local time) on weekdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, with the exception of the Easter weekend.

New Peterborough location!

Beginning April 2, 2012, the Peterborough location of the East Central Ontario Tax Services Office will be located at 1161 Crawford Drive, Peterborough. In-person enquiry service is by appointment only. For help with your personal income tax matters, call 1-800-959-8281. For self-employed or business enquiries call 1-800-959-5525. Teletypewriter service is available at 1-800-665-0354. In-person appointments may be booked through the 1-800 numbers.

To drop off paper returns, or payments, please note that the drop box currently located at 185 King Street will be moved at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012. The drop box will be available at 1161 Crawford Drive as of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
