March Housing Starts Up in Windsor

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 11, 2012) - New home starts were up in March in the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) according to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Builders laid foundations for 34 homes compared to 13 in March 2011.

"The increase in March prolonged the strengthening trend in starts," said Paul Tessaro, Market Analyst for CMHC. "Recent stability in full-time employment was a factor leading to the higher amount of new construction."

March starts in the Windsor area included 26 single-detached homes and eight townhomes.
