ATCO Gas Begins Construction of New Okotoks Service Centre

OKOTOKS, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - ATCO Gas continued its ongoing centennial year celebrations today by looking forward - construction started on a new environmentally-friendly operations centre in Okotoks designed to meet the current and future needs of the community. The company's operations, construction and customer service will be consolidated under one roof to provide quicker response to line installation requests, construction services and emergency calls.

The design of ATCO Gas's new service centre incorporates state-of-the-art microgeneration technology to help minimize the facility's environmental footprint by reducing energy consumption. It makes use of combined heat and power technology fueled by natural gas to generate 25kw/h of electricity as well as deliver exhaust heat to the building's boiler heating system.

The 14,100 sq. ft. facility is scheduled to open in spring 2013. Thirty employees will be relocated from Calgary to the new facility, increasing the number of employees to 37 upon opening.
