WEST JORDAN, Utah, June 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Taking a picture of a check with your mobile phone and having it deposited into your account within seconds seems like it would require bleeding-edge technology only available to select national bank customers. But Mountain America Credit Union has been offering the service to its members for nearly a year, and its use has been growing.
Though not yet offered by many local financial institutions, Mountain America introduced the mobile deposit feature of its mobile banking smartphone app in July 2011 and has since seen mobile check deposits increase more than 1,800 percent.

Mountain America's mobile app is compatible with Droid, iPhone or iPod Touch (with iPad Gen 3 coming soon) and can be found on iTunes or the Android Market by searching "MACU." With the app, users are able to deposit checks at any time from any location. After opening Mountain America's mobile banking app on their device, users select "mobile deposit" from the menu. After entering the deposit amount, choosing the right account and taking photos of the front and back of the endorsed check, the member receives confirmation the check image was received and the deposit made.
