LULAC Re-Elects Margaret Moran as President at 83rd Annual Convention

2013 LULAC National Convention to be Held in Las Vegas, Nevada


ORLANDO, Fla., June 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Margaret Moran was re-elected National President, today, at the 83rd Annual LULAC Convention held in Orlando. Moran is the third woman to serve as president of an organization with a long standing commitment to ensuring equal rights for millions of Hispanics. President Moran was first elected as LULAC's National President in 2010 and was successfully re-elected as National President at the conclusion of this year's convention.

Moran has received numerous honors and awards for her continued service to LULAC and her community, including: the LULAC National Presidential Commendation, LULAC National Women's Hall of Fame Inductee, Texas State Director's Community Service Award, Hispanic Heritage Month Award – UT Health Science Center, IMAGE of San Antonio's, Governor's Yellow Rose of Texas Award and District XV Woman of the Year.

As a LULAC member, Moran's involvement with the organization spans more than three decades. She has served in many roles, including LULAC National Parliamentarian, National Vice President for Women, Texas State Director, Texas Deputy State Director, San Antonio District XV Director, District XV Treasurer and President of Council #4421. Additionally, Moran serves on the Board of the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) and is passionate about her work in education. She was a co-founder of the LNESC-San Antonio Center and has been involved with the LNESC Young Readers Program.
