Avaya Extends Leadership in China's IP Telephony Market: Frost & Sullivan

Avaya, a global provider of business communications and collaboration solutions, has extended its leadership in China's IP Telephony market in 2011, according to a report from analyst firm Frost & Sullivan. Avaya grew its share from 28.9% to 32.1% in China's IP Telephony market last year, 8 points ahead of the nearest competitor.

The Frost & Sullivan report, named "Asia Pacific Enterprise Telephony Market, CY2011," noted that Avaya experienced a strong revenue growth of 27.5 percent from IP Telephony in China in 2011, driven by the increasing demand of IP Telephony as well as upgrading from traditional telephony solutions. The overall IP Telephony market in China grew by 14.7 percent in 2011.

According to the report, Avaya Aura 6.0 and Avaya IP Office 8.0 "have received wide acceptance and popularity among different sizes of enterprises" in China. Avaya Aura is Avaya's SIP-based core communications platform supporting unified communications and contact center solutions for midsize to large enterprises, while Avaya IP Office is the company's flagship unified communications suite for small and midsize businesses. 

IP-based communication in China continued to gain wide attraction across industries, generating more than 70% of total revenue from enterprise telephony, according to the report. The report also projected that the revenue from IP Telephony will maintain double digit growth in the short term till 2014.
