LAVAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - July 18, 2012) - At approximately 9:30 a.m. on July 14, 2012, correctional officers intercepted visitors who were attempting to introduce unauthorized substances into Leclerc Institution, a medium security federal penitentiary located in Laval.
Upon inspection, a total of 655 grams of tobacco was seized. The estimated institutional value of the seizure is $10,480.
CSC imposed a total smoking ban in all federal correctional facilities through a phased-approach on May 5, 2008.
CSC is strengthening measures to prevent unauthorized substance from entering institutions, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
