MIAMI, Aug. 28, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Independent Living Systems, LLC ("ILS"), a national leader in providing innovative long-term care, care management, post discharge and nutrition services to the elderly, dual eligible and special needs populations, today announced that its Health Risk Assessment (HRA) offering has received certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Health Information Product (HIP) in the category of Health Assessment.
The HIP certification program recognizes organizations that offer healthcare information services meeting NCQA standards and guidelines. Health plans can use the program to assess organizations that develop and provide content, tools and services addressed in the certification options. In addition, plans that use the services of an organization holding HIP certification may receive automatic credit for these standards when undergoing an NCQA Accreditation survey.
Nestor Plana, President and Chief Executive Officer, Independent Living Systems, said, "We are very pleased to receive this significant industry recognition, further substantiating the value our Health Risk Assessment offering provides to health plan customers and their members. ILS is committed to upholding the highest standards of healthcare planning, delivery and monitoring, and the new certification will enable us to provide an unmatched level of service to health plans, especially those seeking NCQA accreditation, for managing their Medicare and Medicaid populations. "
ILS' HRA process enables plans to identify member needs, offering insight on both individual and population-wide levels, and develop a customized plan of care. It incorporates a detailed member survey component with a proprietary cloud-based care management tool that integrates member data with metrics relevant to health plan requirements.
Yolanda Castillo, Vice President Health Services, Independent Living Systems, stated, "ILS has designed the Health Risk Assessment tool and process to accurately and efficiently identify member needs, integrate those with regulatory and compliance requirements, and develop a personalized care plan for each member. Our service seamlessly manages the administrative burden for health plans, especially those preparing to implement new programs or provide coverage for multiple populations, and enables them to provide member care that meets NCQA quality standards."
ILS' unique care model integrates healthcare management, nutritional and long-term care services in collaboration with managed care organizations, private insurers, and state and local government entities. Currently, it provides services nationwide for over two million covered lives. For more information, please visit http://www.ilshealth.com/.
