MGAC Successfully Supported Construction of Major New Headquarters and Relocation Effort for Premier Government Agency


WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Aug 31, 2012) - On May 22, 2012, Mark G. Anderson Consultants ("MGAC"), as Owner's Representative to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), joined in celebrating the opening of DARPA's impressive new 13-story headquarters facility, which is located in Arlington, Virginia. DARPA -- the research arm of the Department of Defense -- will support 1,300 personnel in their new headquarters, which features one of the largest secure conference centers in Northern Virginia. The facility has been awarded LEED Gold for Base Building, LEED Silver for Core & Shell, and is still seeking LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors.

MGAC served as the tenant-hired Owner's Representative providing full Project Management Support services over the life of the project. Scope included all aspects of the effort, from design through close-out and punch list, and included the recent relocation of 850 personnel over a two-weekend span. Services included design review, construction management administration, FF&E management and installation, relocation and logistics support, post-occupancy inspections, commissioning, and O&M support. MGAC also assisted with the procurement and oversight of special services contracts including security, audio visual and cabling systems for the tenant.

The building comprises 353,000 SF and sits atop a 250,000 SF, 515-car, multi-level below grade parking garage.
