StatSoft's STATISTICA (TM) Achieves Highest Ratings in World's Largest Survey of Data Analysts

Big Data Capabilities and R Compatibility Cited as Strengths

TULSA, Okla., Sept. 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- StatSoft's STATISTICA analytics software has earned the highest levels of adoption and satisfaction among data miners worldwide, according to the recently released final results of the world's largest independent survey of data mining professionals.

Rexer Analytics, a business consulting firm, released the final report of its 5th Annual Data Miner Survey in late July. The report provides new details to support STATISTICA's continued standing as an industry leader for its third year in a row, selected as the primary data mining tool by the most data miners (17%) surveyed.

STATISTICA received strong ratings across all dimensions, netting highest customer satisfaction levels in 16 of 20 commercial software vendor categories. These categories included factors deemed by data miners to be most relevant to overall primary tool satisfaction, such as accuracy of model performance, dependability/stability/speed of software, quality of output, ease of interpretation, and strong graphical visualization of models.

Notably, with the emergence of "Big Data" analytics as a means for business enterprises to achieve revenue growth and cost reductions, STATISTICA scored highest user satisfaction compared to its commercial peers for its "ability to handle very large data sets."

STATISTICA was also cited as a popular interface to the R freeware algorithms, whose user base is expanding, according to the Rexer survey. STATISTICA's compatibility with R software is a huge plus for StatSoft.

About 80% of STATISTICA users reported that they will continue using STATISTICA over the next three years, compared to 38-58% of users of SAS, SPSS Statistics, SPSS Modeler, and SAS Enterprise Miner and only 22% of Weka users.

Dr. Thomas Hill, StatSoft's Vice President of Analytic Solutions, responded to the survey results, noting, "We are excited to be recognized in the field of predictive analytics and data mining. Rexer Analytics' survey is unique as the largest global survey of its kind, with feedback from analysts doing 'real' work and making positive impact worldwide. These new numbers are quite impressive and a great reward for all of us at StatSoft. We are delighted to see that our efforts meet with the users' approval."
