PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2012) -  Cooley LLP announced today that it has launched a publicly-available online Privacy Policy Generator for emerging companies doing business in the United States. Attorneys from Cooley's nationally acclaimed Privacy group developed the Privacy Policy Generator based on their collective experiences representing hundreds of businesses on online privacy issues.

The Generator, which is intended as a starting point for generating privacy policies for US-based, consumer-targeted websites, will help companies:

  • Better understand internal data collection, use, and disclosure practices;
  • Build consumer trust by conveying what information they collect and how they may use consumer information in a simple and easy-to-understand manner; and
  • Start the process of complying with applicable privacy laws

"Companies will be able to complete the online process in minutes," states Susan Lu Lyon, co-chair of Cooley's Privacy group. "Cooley wants to help the most innovative and disruptive new companies achieve and surpass their aims. As these early stage companies gain new customers and enter markets during periods of rapid growth and slender resources, this Privacy Policy Generator can help companies maintain their pace and build customer trust with a cost-effective tool that starts them down the path of privacy compliance. Creating and maintaining an online presence is a key component to the success of any startup company, and developing an online privacy policy has never been a more important part of that success."

The Privacy Policy Generator is the first in a suite of resources Cooley will make available online. Visit Cooley LLP's Privacy and Emerging Companies pages to access the Generator and learn more about how the firm is dedicated to helping startups achieve their goals.

The Generator was developed in conjunction with Wizdocs, Inc. a Mountain View-based company with the singular mission of making corporate transactions and legal document management more efficient and cost effective. Founded by Ben Longoria, an M&A attorney who has represented clients with acquisitions valued in the billions of dollars, Wizdocs Inc.'s software helps companies and law firms take control over their legal documents and processes, allowing them to become more efficient.
