Winchester Systems Introduces FlashDisk RAID Arrays With 4 TB Disks

BILLERICA, MA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2012) - Winchester Systems Inc., a leading data storage solutions provider, today announced that its flagship line of FlashDisk RAID disk arrays now offer 4 TB disk drives. FlashDisk now supports over 2 PB (2,000 TB) in a standard 48U data center rack.

With 4 TB disks, the FlashDisk RAID disk arrays are ideal for "big data" applications including cloud storage, disaster recovery sites, local disk-to-disk backup, security and surveillance video, PACS medical imaging and archiving, image libraries, media distribution, broadcast, tape and robotics replacement as well as military reconnaissance imaging.

Storage services including snapshots, mirroring and volume copy plus centralized web-based GUI are all included. Replication and thin provisioning services are available. The disk arrays provide tiered virtual storage that is easy to configure to meet application needs and are available in four models:

FlashDisk VX-2300 Series 2 GB/sec, 2U shelves to 336 TB
FlashDisk VX-3400 Series 2 GB/sec, 3U shelves to 448 TB
FlashDisk FX-2300 Series 5 GB/sec, 2U shelves to 432 TB
FlashDisk FX-3400 Series 5 GB/sec, 3U shelves to 576 TB
FlashDisk PetaStore PS-4500 Series 12 GB/sec, 4U shelves to 2 PB

"FlashDisk provides the 'best overall value' by delivering a superior price, performance, capacity and reliability combination," according to Mr. Ted Gumer, VP Sales and Business Development. "Now with up to 2 PB in a single cabinet, the cost of storage is so exceptionally attractive it makes 'big data' projects economically feasible," he added.

Prices for FlashDisk RAID disk arrays with 4 TB disks starts at under $18,000. Products are available now and delivery is 2-3 weeks.
