Kepware Selected Among Best Places to Work in Maine

Company Joins List of Forty-Two Organizations Selected by the Maine State Council of SHRM

PORTLAND, ME--(Marketwire - Sep 19, 2012) - Kepware Technologies, the market leader in advanced communications for automation, announced today that it has been selected by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine. The winning companies will be honored and ranked during an awards banquet on October 11, 2012 at the Ramada Conference Center in Lewiston, Maine.

The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Maine. These organizations benefit the state's economy, workforce, and other businesses. The 2012 Best Places to Work in Maine list contains forty-two companies divided into two size categories: small/medium (with 15-249 U.S. employees) and large (with 250+ U.S. employees). In order to be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 15 employees working in Maine.
  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity.
  • Be a publicly or privately held business.
  • Have a facility in the state of Maine.
  • Be in business for a minimum of 1 year.

"When it comes to our highly-skilled employees, Kepware has built a unique culture based on mutual respect and gratitude," said Tony Paine, President and CEO of Kepware Technologies. "This simple philosophy has enabled us to attract Maine's most talented individuals. Consequently, it's also allowed us to produce world-class solutions like KEPServerEX® that improve the operational efficiencies of some of the largest manufacturing, oil and gas, and power distribution organizations. We are proud to have been recognized by SHRM for our business."

The assessment process is administered by the Best Companies Group (BCG). It evaluated each company's employee policies and procedures in addition to responses from the company's employees. The program marks the most recent step in a long-term initiative to encourage growth and excellence throughout all Maine companies. It also helps companies that want to improve their score. Each participating company receives an "Employee Feedback Report" from the Best Companies Group regardless of whether they made the final list. This report summarizes employee engagement and satisfaction data, the "Maine Benchmark Report," and a transcript of employee written comments. The report is used by many organizations to make significant improvements in their workplace culture.

"If you want to know if employees love coming to work every day, and if you want to know if trust, respect, and communication permeate the culture... ask the employees. That's exactly what we at BCG did to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The companies that make this list are there because their employees said they belong there. On average, over 90% of the employees working for the 42 Best Places to Work in Maine are engaged and connected to their employer. That is pretty remarkable and should be celebrated," stated Peter Burke, President of Best Companies Group.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation and consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation and consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Maine, and also analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
