VAUGHAN, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2012) - Attendees at this year's Markham Fair, being held Thursday through Sunday of this week, are going to be treated to a display of how the electricity industry has changed and will continue to evolve in the future to better serve consumers.
PowerStream's, 'Power for Tomorrow' booth will be showcasing several new technologies and systems the electric utility is now utilizing or is working on to provide additional services and more value to its customers including the company's involvement in renewable energy, smart grid and electric vehicles. The utility's booth will also be featuring the conservation, electrical safety and customer service programs that the company currently has in place to assist customers and educate the general public.
Visitors to the 'Power for Tomorrow' booth will learn first hand how the integration of renewable energy and smart grid technologies into PowerStream's distribution system is now providing electricity customers with more clean and reliable power as well as the tools to help them better manage their energy consumption and reduce costs. They will also see how PowerStream is preparing for the expected wide-spread use of electric vehicles in the future through the two 100% electric Nissan LEAF™ vehicles the company currently owns. Information will also be available on a new technology in which an electric vehicle can power a home, thereby enabling residential customers to shift some of their electricity consumption to off-peak pricing periods as well as providing them with backup electricity supply in the event of an outage.
PowerStream representatives will be onsite promoting the company's conservation and electrical safety programs as well as customer online services such as e-Billing, power outage information and social media communications.
Individuals and families are also being encouraged to drop by the 'Power for Tomorrow' booth to enjoy one of Markham Fair's most popular attractions - a free PowerStream bucket truck ride.
