New Jersey Dentist Receives Reappointment as Clinical Assistant Professor

SPRING LAKE, NJ--(Marketwire - Sep 26, 2012) - The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine recently honored Dr. Peter Ciampi, a dentist in New Jersey, with a reappointment to his position as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Preventative and Restorative Sciences. Awarded by the Provost of the University, Dr. Ciampi's reappointment marks over 15 years of service to the university. He says serving with the prestigious program has been a privilege and he is looking forward to continuing to help dental students gain the experience and training they need to provide patients with safe, exceptional treatment.

Also serving as a forensic dental consultant with the office of the New York City chief medical examiner, Dr. Ciampi says he places significant emphasis on giving back to his community by offering his time and expertise. He says being a part of the burgeoning New Jersey cosmetic dentistry field through various outlets such as the University of Pennsylvania Dental School has not only helped him to assist in the education of others, but also to bring new techniques and improvements to his own practice. Dr. Ciampi says being able to teach and collaborate with other leading minds in dentistry helps sharpen his skills, and he is always eager to continue perfecting procedures at his office so as to ensure patients receive the best quality care.

"Helping educate future dentists has been an enjoyment for me for the past 15 years. Providing them with a real world perspective of clinical dentistry outside the halls of a dental school has been very enlightening to the third and fourth year dental students I work with at Penn."

While teaching and instructing others is an essential duty of a dentist's role in society, Dr. Ciampi says his professional education is never complete, and he hopes to pursue the most advanced treatments possible as long as he is in practice. As a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, the highest honor awarded by the organization, he has dedicated over 1,100 hours to his continued education in performing procedures from porcelain veneers to routine cleanings. Dr. Ciampi is also an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a dental association that promotes research and clinical development in the field of aesthetic dentistry.

As he looks forward to another year with the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Ciampi says he is thankful for the opportunity to play a part in working for the future of dentistry and the betterment of safe and effective procedures. He says the ultimate goal is to provide patients with the best solutions for their needs, whether it be dental implants or TMJ therapy, and he hopes to continue striving for the highest quality results by staying active in the dental community.
