Galena Appoints New Director


VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2012) - Galena International Resources (TSX VENTURE:GTO) ("Galena" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Donald A. McInnes to its board of directors.

Since 1993, Mr. McInnes has been the founder, President, and Director of a number of publicly traded mineral exploration companies including Kutcho Copper Corp. (formerly Western Keltic Mines Inc.). He also founded Plutonic Power Corp., a renewable power development company with a broad portfolio of clean energy projects, and he is currently Executive Vice-Chairman of Alterra Power Corp.

Mr. McInnes is Chairman of Prostate Cancer Canada and the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia, a Governor of the Business Council of British Columbia, and is a past President and Director of the AMEBC, and past Director of the PDAC. He received a Doctor of Technology honoris causa from the BC Institute of Technology in 2009. In 2011 he was awarded the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Division in the Cleantech and Information Systems category.

The Company also wishes to announce the granting of incentive stock options to certain directors, officers and employees to purchase up to 700,000 common shares under the Company's Incentive Stock Option Plan. The options will be granted for a period of five (5) years, commencing on October 4, 2012, exercisable at a price of $0.15 per share.
