Volkswagen Canada Releases 2013 Passat Details

The latest generation Volkswagen Passat was launched last summer and immediately became a top seller. Redesigned in response to what Canadian drivers said they were looking for, the Passat brought European flair to the mid-size sedan market. Larger inside, more stylish outside, and full of luxurious features, the Passat was also available at a price that put it squarely in the heart of the market, and was recognized by Motor Trend magazine as their "Car of the Year".

For the 2013 model year, Volkswagen Canada has taken the Passat, and made it even more attractive by including some of the most popular options in the standard equipment list without increasing the price. The Passat is now available in three trim levels, and with a choice of engines at each level.

Now standard on the price-leading "Trendline" model are: 16" alloy wheels, heated front seats and washer nozzles, illuminated vanity mirrors and rear centre armrest with storage. The total value of these features, which were previously optional, is $1,100 but the Passat's price remains unchanged from 2012 at just $23,975. The Passat provides full-size interior volume, wrapped in an elegant, European-inspired design.

2013 Passat Trendline available from $23,975

Package includes: 16" alloy wheels, 60/40 split rear seat with centre armrest, automatic headlamps, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, multifunction trip computer, illuminated vanity mirrors, heated front seats, exterior mirrors and washer nozzles, and seatback map pockets.

2013 Passat Comfortline available from $27,075

Package includes all Trendline features plus: 17" alloy wheels, power driver's seat, alarm system, brushed aluminum trim, slideable front armrest, chrome exterior trim, front and rear reading lights, power sunroof, Sirius satellite radio, and iPod connectivity.

2013 Passat Highline available from $30,575

Package includes all Comfortline features plus: Memory seat and exterior mirrors, auto-dimming interior mirror, enhanced chrome exterior trim, 400W Fender premium audio system, front fog lamps, Homelink, Keyless access and ignition, Leather/Dinamica seating surfaces, nut burl interior trim, and remote start.

The choice of engines includes a 170 h.p. five cylinder, the ultra-efficient TDI Clean Diesel, or the range-topping 280 h.p. V6 engine. Additional packages and a wide range of colours make personalizing a Passat a simple process. Transmission choices range from either a five or six speed manual transmission, through to a six speed automatic with tiptronic manual control or a six speed DSG automatic.
