Newport Beach Dermatologist on Ideal Treatments for Fall

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 10, 2012) - Dr. Nancy Lee Silverberg, a board-certified Newport Beach dermatologist, performs a wide variety of cosmetic dermatological procedures at Silverberg Surgical & Medical Group. Whether a patient is seeking photodynamic therapy, Fraxel® Laser treatment, or chemical peels, Dr. Silverberg uses some of the most advanced laser and medical treatments available to not only improve surface imperfections, but also to help your skin heal itself and continue healthy rejuvenation on its own. Dr. Silverberg works to renew skin affected by sun damage, natural signs of aging, and skin conditions such as acne or rosacea. For many patients, she says Fall is the ideal season for cosmetic dermatological procedures.

Following many cosmetic skin treatments, the skin is left in a sensitive state. Sun exposure can aggravate the skin in the days following these procedures, and with some treatments, the skin needs to be protected from the sun for several days afterward. Due to these post-procedure precautions, many patients delay treatments during the Summer months and wait for Fall, after the prime vacation season has ended, when the days are shorter, and when the sun is less intense. The Newport Beach dermatologist says that many cosmetic dermatological procedures are better suited for these shorter, cooler days. In addition, there is typically a decrease in social activity during the Fall season, which she says can provide prospective patients considering facial treatments a little extra time for their skin to recuperate and rest before the busy holiday season.

Some procedures Dr. Silverberg mentions that are particularly ideal for Fall are chemical peels (glycolic, beta, tri-chloroacetic acid), photofacials, photodynamic therapy, Fraxel®, and Fractional CO2 treatments. Most treatments that utilize lasers leave the skin more vulnerable in the days immediately following the procedure. Dr. Silverberg, the owner of a Newport Beach cosmetic dermatology practice, says Fall months are more gentle on the skin and patients are less likely to overexpose newly treated skin to the sun; particularly patients who are active outdoors during the Summer months. At Silverberg Surgical & Medical Group, Dr. Silverberg seeks to help patients reach their goals of smoother, healthier, and more youthful looking skin.
