IRTH Communications Highlights: IKEA Builds 34th Solar Project in the U.S. Setting Example for Corporate Leadership

How Visionary Companies Lead the Way in Clean Tech Innovation and Implementation

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 25, 2012) - IRTH Communications, a provider of Investor Relations, Financial Marketing, and Strategic Consulting services to the green tech industry, applauds corporate business leadership that is focused on the triple bottom line: People, Planet and Profits. IKEA is a leading example of corporate citizenship that increases profits through energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.

Andrew Haag, Managing Partner of IRTH Communications commented, "It's part of our mission at IRTH Communications to support the growth of innovative companies that are tomorrow's leaders in creating a greener and cleaner world. A commitment to clean, green and social responsibility comes from all industries and IKEA is a great example. Clearly, reducing carbon foot print and increasing profits can and do go hand in hand."

IKEA, the world's leading home furnishings retailer, announced on October 9 that it has plugged in the solar energy system installed at its distribution center near Savannah, Georgia. This is Georgia's largest private solar rooftop array. According to IKEA, its distribution center in Savannah will produce approximately 2 million kWh of clean electricity annually, the equivalent of eliminating the emissions of 267 cars or powering 170 homes yearly.

With this installation IKEA has completed its 34th solar project in the U.S with five more locations underway. IKEA has allocated EUR 590 million to invest in renewable energy, focusing on solar and wind over the coming three years. Worldwide, IKEA has installed more than 250,000 solar panels on its stores and buildings. The company also owns and/or operates over 100 wind turbines in Europe.

Drawing from its Swedish heritage and respect of nature, IKEA acts on its belief that it can be a good business while doing good business and aims to minimize impacts on the environment.

As part of its own mission to support investments and growth in businesses that achieve both profitability and environmental responsibility, IRTH Communications has been a sponsor of clean tech industry events including: Supporting Sponsor of the 8th Annual Clean-Tech Investor Summit in 2012, the Cleantech Investor Relations Sponsor of the 2011 Rodman & Renshaw Global Investment Conference, and the Cleantech Investor Forum hosted by DealFlow Media in 2010.
